From converted chapels offering magical stopovers to Michelin star restaurants in the UK with one, two and three stars, here’s where to book for amazing food you don’t have to walk far to sleep off.

Best restaurants with rooms in the UK
At The Chapel, Bruton
At the Chapel in the must-visit Somerset town of Bruton is home to a restaurant, artisan bakery and wine store. Dine in this stunning space before spending the night in one of their eight luxury rooms. No two are the same, but we’d recommend booking one with a freestanding bath if you can. Tip: For the best photos of the restaurant, climb the spiral staircase. The light here is magical.

The Bower House, Warwickshire
This independent restaurant with rooms in Shipston-on-Stour, on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, is set in a handsome Georgian townhouse. It’s filled with artwork and quirky local artefacts, like the shop sign from a bygone era lovingly positioned above the fireplace. If you’re just popping into The Bower House for lunch, they do two courses and a glass of wine for £28 from Wednesday to Friday. Or stay over in one of their six boutique bedrooms.

Boys Hall, Ashford, Kent
Boys Hall is a restaurant with rooms that has become one of the must-visit rural retreats in Kent. This 17th Century house has been lovingly restored by owners Kristie and Brad Lomas and is now a boutique restaurant and terrace with a wild country garden and nine suites to stay over in. They also offer wine and spa experiences partnering with other local businesses.

The Bradley Hare, Wiltshire
Make a proper weekend of it at The Bradley Hare, one of our favourite pubs/restaurants with rooms in the UK. The perfect base for exploring Somerset, the towns of Frome and Bruton are both nearby. But if you’re happy with local walks, spend your time eating good food and drinking your favourite tipples (the cocktails here are good) before bedding down in one of their boutique rooms. The Lamb Inn, Shipton-under-Wychwood
Find The Lamb Inn in the quaint village of Shipton-under-Wychwood in the Cotswolds. The perfect spot for Sunday lunch, it serves elevated pub food the rest of the week. Think Steak Frites, Venison Pie and Cote De Boeuf for two. Sister pub to The Bell Inn in nearby Langford, stay over in one of their 10 recently renovated rooms. All are stylish with king or super king-size beds. Request one with a roll top bath.

The Princess Royal London, Notting Hill
The Princess Royal is a pub/restaurant with rooms in London worth visiting. With its country garden feel, the pretty terrace is perfect for summer drinks – and there are private feasting rooms for special occasions. Once the festivities are over, retire to one of their four boutique bedrooms, which feature abstract artwork and freestanding baths.

The Terrace Rooms & Wine, Isle of Wight
The Terrace Rooms & Wine is an intimate 14-seat restaurant with rooms (open November to March) but the main focus here, as the name suggests, is the wine. They sell bottles to take away or drink in, and cheese and meat plates are served all year round. Upstairs there are six boutique rooms, all with sea views. Even if you’re not staying here, wine tastings take place Sunday to Thursday from 6pm.

Updown Farmhouse near Deal, Kent
This restaurant with rooms near the seaside town of Deal has been wowing guests since it opened in summer 2022. Updown Farmhouse describes itself as a ‘magical conservatory restaurant’ serving hyper seasonal, locally sourced food. But the magic doesn’t stop there. Make a weekend of it by booking one of their 10 boutique bedrooms. They have special dinner, bed and breakfast rates from October to February.

The Black Bull, Sedbergh
Looking for a restaurant with rooms as a base to explore the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales? Book a stay at The Black Bull in Sedbergh. Food is modern British with an Asian twist. Think Mackerel with Soy, Green Chilli and Caviar and Wild Rabbit and Lovage Tortellini with Miso. The Holcombe, Mendip Hills
The Holcombe restaurant with rooms opened just before lockdown in the village it’s named after, deep in the heart of Somerset’s Mendip Hills. Food comes fresh from their own kitchen gardens and polytunnel, and guests can relax in warmer months in the garden and terrace. Book one of their 11 rooms and make a weekend of it as it’s the perfect base for exploring Bath, Bristol and Wells.

Restaurants with rooms with Michelin Stars
The Hand and Flowers, Marlow
The Hand and Flowers is the only pub and restaurant with two Michelin stars in the UK, so had to make this list. A truly gastronomic getaway, it can be hard to get a table at Tom Kerridge’s Marlow restaurant, so is one to book ahead for a special treat. Turn it into a night away with a stay in of their 15 boutique rooms with big beds, freestanding baths, hot tubs and rainfall showers.

Ynyshir, Powys, Mid Wales
Ynyshir is one of only nine Michelin star restaurants in Wales – and the only one with two Michelin stars. Chef-Owner Gareth Ward invites guests to go on an immersive culinary journey ‘in his home’. As well as an open kitchen, there are DJs bringing the music and a tasting menu featuring the best meat and fish from around the globe. A sample menu on the website features lobster, black cod, bluefin tuna and peking duck. Book a stay and dine package in one of their house or garden rooms for the best value.

The Black Swan at Oldstead, Yorkshire
Another Michelin star restaurant with rooms, this time from chef Tommy Banks. Set on the grounds of his family farm near the North York Moors National Park, The Black Swan at Oldstead has nine boutique rooms named after the dales and farms in the area. Most of the food here is grown, reared and foraged on site. Sister restaurant, Roots, was awarded York’s first Michelin Star in 2021.

Grace & Savour at Hampton Manor, Solihull
Adults-only restaurant Grace & Savour was awarded its first Michelin Star in 2023 for its 15-course tasting menu, courtesy of chef David Taylor. Set in a beautiful walled garden at Hampton Manor, they are open for lunch (Saturdays only) and Wednesday to Saturday for dinner. Be sure to book one of their Garden Suites for the full experience, which includes a chef’s tour of the kitchen garden and introduction to the food you will eat later.

Inver, Loch Fyne
This restaurant with rooms on the shores of Loch Fyne has a Green Michelin Star for its sustainability credentials and is the place to head for seafood and native game. Pop in for a lunch of fresh oysters, crab and langoustines, drink real ales and natural wine in the cosy bar, or visit at night for their five-course tasting menu (£95pp). Only guests eating in the restaurant can book one of their shepherd’s huts or en suite bothies. Note Inver is closed in January and February.

L’Enclume, Cumbria
Not content with one Michelin Star, Chef Simon Rogan now has three for his restaurant with rooms, L’Enclume. Find it in Cartmel, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District. Work up an appetite with a day of exploring, before eating incredible food in the restaurant. Then bed down for the night in one of their 16 rooms and suites.
