The UK isn’t short of luxury spas, although most seem to be in the south – but one spa in Cheshire has been named one of the best in the world.
Carden Park, which only opened in 2020, won the coveted Best Country House Hotel Spa in England at the 2022 World Spa Awards.
Nestled in 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside and with the best outdoor facilities we’ve experienced in the UK, we can see why.
Take a dip in the heated outdoor vitality pool or relax in one of the bubbling hot tubs as you explore one of the biggest spa gardens in the UK.
There is also a panoramic garden sauna, fire pit and heated garden pods where you can enjoy afternoon tea.
And we can confirm the all-weather Bollinger champagne bar is indeed open all year around, even in the rain. It was drizzly when we visited, but in no way did it dampen our spa experience at Carden Park.
Inside, you’ll find another heated swimming pool with heated relaxation beds on one side and loungers on the other.
The indoor Thermal Suite has a Finnish Sauna, cooler Bio Sauna, Experience Showers, Tepidarium, Salt Steam Room and Aroma Steam Room, the latter of which was our favourite.
Enjoy iced tea in the Panoramic Relaxation Room, which looks out over the spa garden, or relax in the Sensory Relaxation Room or Deep Relaxation Room found near the treatment rooms.
When it comes to treatments, a highlight is The Spa at Carden Signature Experience. This 105 minute treat is a top-to-toe experience starting with a full body massage using products infused with therapeutic herbs from the spa garden. It also includes a facial, foot ritual and glass of Carden Park Estate Reserve sparkling wine (£175).
Facials and massages start from £95 for 50 minutes, or you can book yourself into the Bollinger Beauty Bar for manicures, pedicures, lash tints and lifts and LED light treatments to promote skin rejuvenation.
Those on a budget should book the Twilight Spa between 6pm and 9pm (£75pp, excludes treatments). For a blowout treat, try the Signature Spa Day (£275pp) which includes full use of the facilities, a healthy lunch in Elements Restaurant and either the Luxury Face and Body Experience or The Spa at Carden Signature Experience.
