Belmond has unveiled its newest luxury sleeper train, which will travel through England and Wales.
The luxury train operator already runs the Orient Express and the Royal Scotsman, the UK’s only luxury sleeper train to tour the Scottish Highlands.
Now guests are invited to step aboard the new Britannic Explorer and ‘see Britain through new eyes’. Departing from London Victoria, the Art Deco train will take a slow tour of three new routes taking in the beautiful landscapes of Wales, Cornwall and the Lake District.
First look inside Belmond’s Britannic Explorer train
The three-night journey includes luxury accommodation and fine dining experiences from renowned farm-to-table pioneer, chef Simon Rogan, who owns the three Michelin star restaurant L’Enclume and holds eight Michelin stars across all his restaurants.
Menus will showcase seasonal and locally sourced British produce. Expect bespoke afternoon teas, breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, plus 24-hour steward service on board.
Speaking about the new collaboration with Belmond, Rogan said: ‘Across all my restaurants, my dishes are defined by local, often homegrown produce. This philosophy allows our food to resonate with the environment from which it originates.’
He added: ‘I am very excited to bring this approach to the Britannic explorer, where each plate will reflect Britain’s diverse landscapes. I hope every passenger not only enjoys the flavours, but also feels a connection between the dishes and the journey, making their time on board truly memorable.’
There is also a beautiful botanical bar inspired by a Victorian apothecary serving cocktails, artisan gins and craft beers. Watch the world go by, literally, in the Observation Car or enjoy a treatment in the onboard Wellness Suite.
With just 18 cabins, including 15 Suites and three Grand Suites, this truly is one of the most exclusive trips you can take in the UK right now.
Guests will get the chance to go on excursions as part of the journey. Highlights include a private tour and dinner at world-class art gallery Hauser & Wirth in Somerset and on-site restaurant Da Costa.
An exclusive stop at the two Michelin star manor house hotel and restaurant, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, in Oxfordshire is in the luxury itinerary. Guided hikes through Wales, wild swimming in the Lake district and a visit to Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens in Cornwall are also on offer.
The routes are scheduled to allow travellers to combine two regional journeys into one trip should they want to. The Cornwall and Lake District routes run from Friday to Monday. While the Wales route, which takes in Snowdonia’s untamed National Park, runs Monday to Thursday.
Prices start from £11,000 based on a double cabin for two. This includes a 3-night itinerary and all excursions, meals and alcoholic beverages on board
