These are the most exciting new UK hotel openings for 2022 so you can start planning your next staycation.
From an outstanding private house hotel in York that was once a police station to new London hotels with amazing rooftops worth a visit of their own, here’s where we will be checking in.
This list will be constantly added to throughout the year so keep checking back for our latest recommendations.

New UK Hotel Openings 2022
LEVEN, Manchester – open now

Heading to Manchester for the weekend? Check into the city’s most stylish new hotel, LEVEN.
Situated on Chorlton Street just five minutes from Manchester’s Piccadilly station, all 42 rooms at LEVEN Manchester have high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, exposed brickwork and wood floors.
Some feature freestanding baths. While the two duplex suites are great if you’re pushing the boat out or just need a bit more space.
Coffee and pastries are served in The Lobby and Lounge in the mornings. Those wanting something stronger can order cocktails later on.

One Hundred Shoreditch, east London – open now

A new UK hotel opening we were particularly excited about at Boutique Handbook HQ was One Hundred Shoreditch.
On the site of the former Ace Hotel in east London, which closed during lockdown, it’s from the same team behind Sea Containers on London’s Southbank.
As well as 258 chic rooms, including some with their own private terraces, the hotel has the largest choice of restaurants and bars in any hotel in the area.
The Lobby Bar is the hotel’s living room serving drinks and cocktails alongside pizzas. Order vino and small plates at The Wine Bar. While the Seed Library in the basement is from cocktail supremo Ryan ‘Mr Lyan’ Chetiyawardana. Upstairs The Rooftop has just opened in time for summer.
Casual all-day restaurant Goddard & Gibbs specialises in British seafood, while Hatch on Shoreditch High Street is where to head for coffee or snacks.

The Vices, York – open now

Set within what was once a Victorian police station, The Vices York is a unique and exciting new UK hotel opening for 2022.
This private house hotel has three luxury suites to choose from. The First is for minimalists and has a glass suspended super king-sized bed and crystal bath. The Second is contemporary with original artwork, velvet furnishings and a double circular bath. The Third Suite is more masculine with a marble floor, four poster brass bed and an open fire in the private lounge. One thing to note is all the bathrooms are huge here!
Fine dining restaurant Allium serves up a delicious six-course tasting menu from chef Luke Sanderson from £80pp.
Guests can also relax with expert mixologists in the Cocktail Bar or book a personal wine tasting experience at the Wine Library. Book for an occasion, as it really is special.

art’otel, Battersea Power Station, SW London – open now

Art-inspired hotel group art’otel has opened in the iconic Battersea Power Station building.
The luxury hotel brand, which is operated by Radisson, already have hotels in Europe – but this will be their first establishment in the UK and it looks out of this world.
It will have 164 rooms, top class restaurants and bars, and a stunning infinity pool overlooking the chimneys of the Grade II listed power station.
And it’s not the first art’otel planned for the capital. Another hotel in Hoxton, east London has been earmarked to open in 2024.

The Retreat at Elcot Park, Newbury – open now

British hospitality brand The Signet Collection opened the beautiful Mitre hotel in Hampton Court in 2020. Now their second hotel – The Retreat at Elcot Park – has opened its doors ready for summer 2022.
The Grade II listed hotel features 55 individually styled rooms, plus six eco lodges, offering stunning views of the expansive 16 acre grounds.
There is also an outdoor infinity pool with cabanas and a Whispering Angel pool bar, luxury health spa and health club, hair and nail salon, tennis court, croquet lawn and walled garden.
Just like its sister hotel, food and drink will have pride of place at The Retreat which will have two restaurants (a Pan-Asian and all day brasserie), an Orangery and large terrace, coffee shop, bakery and whisky bar.

The Lakes by Yoo, Cotswolds – open now

Luxury rural estate The Lakes by Yoo has launched a collection of new waterside cabins and apartments nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds.
There are nine two-bedroom cabins and 18 three-bed apartments, which all enjoy stunning lakeside views of the 850 acre grounds.
On site extras include a spa offering luxury bespoke treatments, plus a gym, indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room.
There is also a restaurant, the option to book private chefs and mixologists and a range of activities such as fishing, boating, tennis and zip-wiring to have a go at.

Retreats at The Tawny, Staffordshire – open now

Luxury hotel The Tawny, which opened its doors in 2021, has now launched eight new cedar-clad cabins.
Called Retreats, each cabin has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the woodland estate, super king-sized beds and sunken indoor bath tubs. They also come with outdoor spa baths for stargazing.
Other fun on site can be had in the hotel’s outdoor heated pool, play a game of giant Connect 4 in the gardens or have dinner and drinks in The Plumicorn restaurant and bar.
Extras like private yoga sessions, pamper packs and spa treatments, garden tours and complimentary bike hire is also available.

Fairmont Windsor Park, Windsor – open now

One of the most anticipated new UK hotel openings for 2022 is Fairmont Windsor Park. This 200-room luxury countryside hotel next to Windsor Great Park is just an hour from London, but its spa is the main draw.
Aiming to be the UK’s leading wellness retreat, it has a 20 metre indoor pool, courtyard hydrotherapy vitality pool, traditional Hammam, thermal suite with spa, experience showers and steam room.
There is also a hot tub, Japanese Ashiyu foot spa,Himalayan salt room with views over the vitality pool and firepit and a full body cryotherapy (cold therapy) chamber – the first of its kind in the UK. The 18 treatment rooms will offer therapies like massage, facials, vitamin infusions, dry flotation, acupuncture, Ayurvedic rituals and more.
Once you’ve had a day of pampering, spa guests can use the Greens wellbeing cafe or book an afternoon tea in the Orchid tea Room.

The Gantry, Stratford, east London – open now

The Gantry is a chic new hotel from the Hilton Curio Collection, which has the highest rooftop bar and restaurant in east London.
You’ll find it in Stratford overlooking the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and London’s epic skyline.
Non-guests can enjoy 18th floor Sky Bar and restaurant and there are 290-rooms to choose from if you are staying over.
Food and drink offerings include Union Social, the all-day restaurant and lounge which has a heated al fresco terrace and two open air fire pits (pictured). While Coupe on the first floor is where to head for cocktails and fizz.

Nici, Bournemouth – open now

Bournemouth isn’t known for its chic hotels, but new five-star concept Nici Hotels is hoping to change that.
Taking inspiration from Miami’s South Beach lifestyle, its first hotel has opened on the former site of The Savoy and is aiming to be a new destination resort.
The hotel features 70 bright bedrooms, including some with freestanding baths. There is also a chic botanical inspired bar and restaurant, plus outdoor terraces for al fresco drinks and dining.
A spa, fitness centre and rooftop bar and restaurant are set to follow in 2023.

Wild Thyme & Honey, Cotswolds – open now

Wild Thyme & Honey is a boutique country inn with dog-friendly suites and 24 bedrooms, including some with freestanding baths. Think exposed Cotswold stone, cosy furnishings with light and airy tones and potted plants.
Set within the village of Ampney Crucis, near Cirencester, it’s the ideal base for a Cotswolds break.
Guests can also dine at the traditional pub on site, The Crown, which serves locally sourced farm-to-table dishes.

The Princess Royal London, Notting Hill – open now

This delightful pub with rooms has reopened in Notting Hill after a major renovation to restore the beautiful Victorian building to its former glory.
As well as a bar, restaurant with private feasting rooms, garden and courtyard, The Princess Royal has four chic bedrooms for those wanting to stay the night (and we do!).
The stylish decor in the rooms mirrors that of the restaurant. Think bold prints paired with block colours and abstract artwork. Some also feature freestanding baths.

Chateau Denmark, Soho, central London – open now

Inspired by the birth of the British music scene, Chateau Denmark is bringing rock ‘n’ roll back to Soho.
It’s located on London’s iconic Denmark Street, once home to the Sex Pistols, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix. The Rolling Stones also recorded their first album here.
This hotel fit for rock stars has 55 session rooms, apartments and rock-inspired hotel rooms.
It is part of a £1 billion revival of the area, which will also feature a new live events venue and the world’s largest exhibition screens.

Hare & Hounds, Newbury – open now

Formally a 17th century coaching inn, this beautiful Georgian property has been transformed into the most quintessential pub and restaurant with rooms.
And if you’re looking to nourish the soul on a relaxed foodie break, this could well be a perfect choice.
As well as offering up local and seasonal British dishes – including hearty roasts and fresh seafood – there are 30 individually designed bedrooms spread across four buildings.
They include The Stables, The Paddocks, The Hunter’s Lodge and The Coach House. Be sure to book a Coach House suite or the Bridle Suite for a roll top copper bath.

room2, Chiswick, SW London – open now

Billed as London’s first ‘hometel’, room2 in London’s Chiswick is a place to live, not just to stay.
Green conscious travellers should also take note as it’s the first hotel in the world to be ‘whole life net zero’. This means it fully accounts for its entire carbon footprint and uses 89% less energy than other UK hotels.
Each of the 86 bespoke rooms are chic and colourful in their design and crafted in collaboration with local artisans within a 10 mile radius of the property.
They all come with a kitchenette so guests can cook their own meals should they want to, plus there is a cafe and restaurant on site.

The Twenty Two, Mayfair, central London – open now

Tucked away in Mayfair’s Grosvenor Square, The Twenty Two bills itself as a place for ‘the creative and the curious’.
Set within a Grade II listed Edwardian manor, the hotel has maximalist interiors inspired by 18th century France.
There are 31 bedrooms and suites, including some with custom-made four poster and canopy beds. Bathrooms are marble and mini-bars come fully stocked with organic spirits. There is even a butler service should you want one.
Even if you aren’t staying at the hotel, there is an all-day restaurant serving British food with a Mediterranean twist, plus a private members’ club.

Hotel Indigo Exeter – open now

Hotel Indigo Exeter has opened on the site of the former House of Fraser department store in the Devon city.
Built in a 1930s modernist style, the building dates back to 1792 when Mrs Colson, a local milliner who became one of the city’s most loved characters, opened a department store there named ‘Colson’s’.
The hotel bar and restaurant is lovingly named after her, while ‘Becketts’ rooftop bar enjoys views across Exeter Cathedral.
There is also a sports bar and The Retreat Spa which has two hydrotherapy pools, a gym, sauna, steam room, nail bar and a lounge that serves champagne.

Inhabit Queen’s Gardens, Paddington, west London – open now

Inhabit is an urban wellness hotel in London’s Paddington which has just opened its second hotel in the area.
A stone’s throw from the original hotel in Southwick Street, the new Inhabit is set across a crescent of 19th century townhouse in Queen’s Gardens.
As well as 158 Scandi-style rooms, ranging from cosy doubles to connecting family rooms, there are 10 suites.
The hotel has a wellness area with two treatment rooms and a yoga studio on the lower ground floor. Guests can also use the library retreat on the ground floor next to the plant-based restaurant.

Sawcliffe Manor Country House, Lincolnshire – open now

Sawcliffe Manor is a new spa retreat destination in north Lincolnshire offering bucolic bliss on a 400-year-old family farm and nature reserve, which is also home to a herd of wild ponies.
There are three different types of accommodation to choose from including three charming cottages, a giant glamping yurt and country manor which sleeps up to 24 people.
Guests can also relax in the natural spa that offers unique treatments like a milk bath in a copper bath tub.

The Red Lion Inn, Somerset – open now

The Red Lion Inn is a family-run pub and restaurant close to Stonehenge in Somerset which has just reopened following a refurb of their six boutique rooms.
Oozing country charm, the 17th century thatched roof pub has flagstone floors, exposed beams, open fires, cosy nooks and a beer garden for the warmer months. Expect locally sourced produce, plus seafood from Kingfisher in Devon.
Rooms can be found in a separate barn conversion a short walk from the pub, and all are exceptionally spacious with super king size beds and ensuites offering a bath or shower.
As well as Stonehenge, guests can take a trip to neighbouring hotel The Newt, a country estate with magnificent woodland and gardens, or head into Glastonbury.

Hotel AMANO Covent Garden, central London – open now

Another exciting new UK hotel opening for 2022 is Hotel AMANO Covent Garden, which has finally opened an establishment in London.
Bringing Berlin vibes to the English capital, it’s the first international hotel from German-based hotelier The AMANO Group.
Expect dark moody tones and unique design features throughout the 141 room property.
There will also be a basement bar, restaurant, sky bar and rooftop terrace with impressive views over the city and DJs spinning the decks at weekends.

Tŷ Milford Waterfront Hotel, Pembrokeshire – open now

A new hotel offering picture-postcard views across the Pembrokeshire Coast has opened in time for summer 2022.
Tŷ Milford Waterfront Hotel has 100 stylish bedrooms spread over four floors, as well as a waterfront bar and restaurant, private dining area and an activity suite on the ground floor.
The new hotel opening from the Celtic Collections group is part of the Milford Waterfront development in Milford Haven.

Coppa Club, Haslemere, Surrey – open now

You’ve probably seen the Coppa Club restaurants and their riverside igloos popping up on your Instagram feed, but did you know you can stay there too?
There are already rooms available at Coppa Club’s Great House in Sonning and The Swan at Streatley in Berkshire, but now another restaurant with rooms has opened in Haslemere in Surrey.
Providing a home-from-home experience, Coppa Club Haslemere is the hospitality group’s second Surrey location, and third property to include a boutique hotel with 13 guest bedrooms.

Gleneagles Townhouse, Edinburgh – open now

Every well-heeled traveller knows of Gleneagles, but the Gleneagles Townhouse is the brands’ first city hotel.
Landing in Edinburgh’s St Andrew Square in June, it has 33 opulent bedrooms which look fit for royalty.
The restaurant is open all day and the rooftop bar has sensational views of the city. The website boasts its gym is ‘more than a gym’ with its state-of-the-art equipment.
While the spa is a holistic wellness haven with innovative technologies like a cryotherapy chamber. They also have a members’ club.

Hotel La Tour, Milton Keynes – open now

Opening in June 2022, the Hotel La Tour has a 14th floor restaurant which is set to be Buckinghamshire’s first sky bar.
A chic new hotel for Milton Keynes, the 261 rooms feature vibrant artwork and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Unique to Hotel La Tour is its glass lift that will provide views across Campbell Park.

The Other House, Kensington, west London – open now

Residents’ club The Other House has revealed its brand-new South Kensington site for spring, which boasts 200 contemporary-meets-classic Club Flats that take the whole serviced apartment thing to a new level.
Effortlessly combining home comforts with hotel-style facilities, the rooms have been designed by interior heavyweights Bergman Design House and each will exude its very own distinct character.
Members get exclusive access to two bars, a spa and fitness studio. While the public spaces include a destination bar and an all-day dining bistro.
Located in one of the capital’s most upmarket and culture-packed districts, this is the kind of under-the-radar place you’ll want to keep to yourself.

Hotel Brooklyn, Leicester – open now

New York style Hotel Brooklyn opened its first UK branch in Manchester in 2020, but 2022 will see them expand to Leicester in the Midlands.
Like the Manchester hotel, Leicester is inspired by the famous Brooklyn borough and industrial in its design, featuring exposed brickwork and an impressive atrium space.
The hub of the hotel is The Lair, an open plan bar, restaurant and living space. While upstairs there are 191 stylish bedrooms, including skyline suites and some with hot tub terraces. Dog friendly rooms are also available.
Hotel Brooklyn are also trailblazers for guests with accessibility needs and are the first hotel in the UK to have fully accessible ‘Liberty’ suites.

Lost Property, City of London – open now

With an eclectic collection of artwork and generous splashes of contemporary colour throughout, this Curio Collection hotel has ‘cool cat’ written all over it.
It’s tucked away in the heart of St Paul’s, with a restaurant, cocktail bar, and coffee house to boot.
Despite having 145 bedrooms, it still manages to maintain a boutique feel with some seriously modern and stylish touches.
It will make a great base from which to explore the capital, including the nearby Sir John Soane’s Museum and of course the Whispering Gallery at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Fort Road Hotel, Margate – open now

Margate has been screaming out for a new hotel, so we were delighted to hear that Ford Road Hotel is opening on the seaside town’s iconic seafront.
The 14-rooms range from King size to Sea View and the best in the house is the top floor Suite. There is also a guest-only Roof Terrace offering 360-degree views of the stunning Margate skies, described by Turner as the ‘loveliest in Europe’.
It’s no surprise art is a key factor in the design here as Matthew Slotover – co-founder of Frieze magazine and fairs – artist Tom Gidley and developer Gabriel Chipperfield are the brains behind the new venture.
There is also a ground floor restaurant open to non-guests from breakfast through to dinner, plus a bar and snug area for drinks.
Interestingly, Head Chef Daisy Cecil will serve up a locally source menu inspired by late 19th and 20th century female food writers. We can’t wait to see what’s on the menu!

The Albion, Ceredigion, West Wales – open now

Luxury glamping site Fforest in West Wales has finally opened its first hotel.
The Albion in Cardigan on the Welsh coast is housed in two historic warehouses and has 23 rooms overlooking the River Teifi.
In keeping with the town’s maritime heritage, the hotel has exposed as much of the original building as possible, leaving some bits raw to tell its own story. One particular highlight is historic graffiti on the third floor, while 19th century pencil sketches of ships cover many of the internal lime washed walls.
An outdoor sauna and Japanense-style Onsen baths are coming in December.

Virgin Hotels, Edinburgh and Glasgow – open now

Virgin has launched its first hotels outside of America this year, with the arrival of Virgin Hotels Edinburgh and Virgin Hotels Glasgow.
The Edinburgh hotel opened in June 2022 in the Old Town, with 225 chambers and grand suites, plus multiple bars and restaurants.
Virgin Hotels Glasgow will open its doors in Clyde Street in the heart of the city centre in December, featuring 242 rooms, including some with river views.
Guests will also have access to Virgin’s signature culinary experience, Commons Club, plus the more casual The Funny Library Coffee Shop.

The Cooden Beach Hotel, Bexhill-on-Sea – open now

A new four-star seafront retreat is coming to East Sussex. The Cooden Beach Hotel is positioned directly on the beach. Enjoy coastal walk right from the terrace, which features sun loungers and outdoor seating.
The Brasserie on the Beach has seasonal menus. While the Café Bar offers afternoon tea, sandwiches and ice cream.
The revamped hotel has 41 bedrooms with sea views. On top of this, there is yoga, complimentary bike hire and massages available in Sea Cottages.

Boys Hall, Ashford, Kent – open now

Boys Hall is a family-run 17th century Grade II Listed manor house in the heart of Kent which will reopen in the summer as a restaurant and pub with rooms.
The dining spaces will serve locally sourced menus that change daily, but always feature home-cooked favourites.
The boutique hotel will have 10 bedrooms, including three suites with original four-poster beds and roll top baths, plus window seats which overlook the estate.
